Our story

A lifesaver in every home

The Rashtriya Life Saving Society (India) is a registered charitable trust, an official branch of the Royal Life Saving Society (Commonwealth) and a member of the International Life Saving Federation. For more than a decade the Society dreamt of an All Women's Lifesaving Centre — a dream realised in Chennai through the efforts of Mrs. Jayanthi Murugesh.

  1. 1997

A school bus falls from Delhi's Wazirabad Bridge into the Yamuna. 28 children drown.

  2. 1998

Rear Admiral P. D. Sharma founds RLSS(I) on 2 August to teach India CPR, first aid and lifesaving.

  3. 2016

The All Women's Lifesaving Centre, Tamil Nadu is inaugurated on 17 December.

  4. Today

Training across Tamil Nadu and all four zones of India, with regional-language trainers on request.
